i mean like, washed like a normal person who uses the bathroom but otherwise, no! normal dirt under his nails, hands are clean. they probably smell kind of like molly's incense smell, honestly. unfortunate and gay. ]
We trapped the medbay pods last night. Mollymauk and I, that is. Don't tell anyone, I'd rather keep it close, but check the hands of anyone you speak to for any strange marks that look like Mollymauk's tattoo ink.
No. I just thought you'd also start making the joke.
[The one she drowned him over.]
Don't tell anyone what we've done. If necessary, pretend you're checking out of some stupid effect. It'll all come out at trial, but best not to allow anyone the chance to hear of it before then.
[ he absolutely would've yeah. all silly teasing and joking aside, though, he takes the request seriously, nodding. ] I'll keep an eye out. People tend to be rather friendly towards me, so, it shouldn't look too odd.
[ sometimes... being charming has its advantages, ]
Well, if I hadn't seen odd replicas of ourselves in the experimental holding that first week, I would've thought it utterly ridiculous. Now that our disbelief has been well and properly suspended...
I don't know. I had wondered, last week, if perhaps it was impossible. Only sardonically, maybe, but. One of the Avatars told me the first week we were here that really, the only thing here that could truly be trusted were the results of the votes. Of course, I doubt we've ever gotten that close to getting it correct, but it does make me wonder.
That's what I think, too. That bizarre flesh colored mold is more of what caught my attention, at least in terms of what Misamisa was saying. When we were in that odd laboratory, it seemed like it was trying to grow itself. It's showed up in at least one other location too, hasn't it?
[ how to say this. he frowns for a moment, thinking. ]
...I know for a fact that whatever larger mystery this place holds is directly tied to the Avatars, and their state of being, too.
. . . What I understand to be the case is that the Avatars have chosen to be here, in order to settle some sort of "unfinished business," the nature of which they cannot say. But their state of being is also something that happened to them. Pride said the reasons for the change was something he doesn't "know too much about," but that it happened around the time they agreed to become Avatars. He described it as both a choice and a consequence. He defined Avatar as "someone who indulged too much."
[ he briefly pulls a mock offended face!! PRIDE!!! PRIDE WON'T EVEN BE HIS FRIEND AND THEY'LL SHOW HARROW THEIR FACE? RUDE. ] ...I see.
[ ... anyway. more somber, more serious. ]
... Wrath was in a state, last week, a far more drastic one than I had seen before. [ for. likely obvious reasons. gu yun doesn't go much more into it besides that. ] I was able to spend some time with them on Friday evening, and I gave them back the object that I found that belonged to them when I did.
...I watched it have an effect. It - seemed to pull them back, back to how I'd seen them before that point. It wasn't perfect, or immediate, and time took care of the rest of it, but I watched it help.
[Maybe because Harrow is nice to Pride, did you ever consider that?? Or maybe they vibe because they're both tiny and mean.]
. . . I know that in certain cases, what has been done to them is painful. It is certainly a good thing, if we can bring them back to what they were before.
I'm not sure the Avatars know themselves what our purpose here is, but it is likely to help them in some way with their "unfinished business." Ah, and - I think there is also some reason to believe there is a higher authority, keeping tabs on the Avatars themselves and enforcing their rules.
. . . To be more clear, when I say I think, there is some evidence I'm aware of that strongly suggests it. But I've been asked not to share too broadly the evidence itself, as it may bring too much scrutiny onto the Avatars.
Understood. [ ohhhh he WANTS TO KNOW but that's fine. ] I'm glad the prediction wasn't off, then. [ it did feel sort of obvious, and... the blatant denial of such a thing by some of the avatars only made it feel more suspicious. ]
Mm. I would. . . like to help them. But I also think we must be cautious, with what they say. If they are following rules set by a third party [The secret Mastermind, the Avatar of Cringe] then we can't know if their answers are genuine or if they are following some sort of requirement.
Best to take things with a grain of salt. [ he's been doing so since the beginning. ] I'll try and see what I can find out on my own, too. Carefully, of course.
Yes. And we ought to continue exploring. Even the ones where you look at an Avatar's memory. . . I don't believe Pride would have been willing to tell me as much as he did if I hadn't come to understand him to some degree.
. . . Please tell me if you ever see or hear anything else of that little girl, won't you?
...I wonder if the group this week saw memories of an Avatar. I didn't get the chance to ask, but we didn't - ours belonged to White. [ he was busy yesterday for obvious reasons, but...
if there's a pattern to it - seems likely. ] But, I'm in agreement, and... I will.

Oh, clever, the both of you. I'll look.
