We started off as children, actually. I may have been twelve or thirteen? But we were instructed to win a fight against two others, no matter the cost. I won quickly, and as each of us won our individual fights, we were brought to an odd room filled with strange balloons.
And then, nearly immediately, we were attacked by dogs.
...balloons...? [oh, hold on, that reminds her of something...] Didn't White say something about selling balloons before... I could have sworn he did...
Mmn. It was the start of it. [ he glances to his right arm, where the sleeve of his nice robe is torn to shreds. ]
The balloons were filled with an odd gas. We were in there with the dogs - who were relentless in attacking us - until we popped them, and inhaled the gas inside.

After that, we ended up in a strange, white space, with that odd goat, who gave us those powers.
[ a beat; gu yun wrinkles his nose. ] This makes me sound like a lunatic.
Well, I suppose I'll take that from a god. [ his mouth lifts at the edge, a little, in a smile.
anyway. ] That thing told us we'd have to face the consequences of what we'd done, once it had gifted us with those powers, and we went unconscious not long after. Primrose and I were separated from the other two - I couldn't tell you what happened with them.
But what happened with the two of you...? Or - with you, I suppose. I won't ask you to say anything that Primrose wouldn't be comfortable with you sharing.
We were brought to a place I'd never seen before - Primrose said she recognized it as "Sunshade", though.
The two of us were quickly confronted by a ghost - one of the people I'd defeated in the fight. He accused me of killing him, which, I suppose I did, but to be fair, it was just an illusion, and I had no other choice. We talked with him for a bit, and then, he vanished.
[ there's a pause. his gaze moves, just for a second, to the lantern he'd come back with, sitting on the bedside table.

it's gone as quick as it comes, though. ] After that, we ran into illusions of two of my soldiers, claiming that someone was going to arrest me for smuggling ziliujin by order of the Emperor. [ a thing that isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility! haha! it's fine. ]
They were pursued by two archers. One shot one of my soldiers down. I offered to turn myself in, but they wouldn't take that as an answer.

anyway, she finds herself glancing at the lantern as he does, following his gaze - but then he's looking away. just a coincidence, or...? well, he's continuing on, so she'll just file it away for later.]
[ he reaches up and taps where his arrow injury was. ]
I was able to get the wind slasher off of the body of my soldier and defend myself as was necessary. Once that happened, we were pushed into unconsciousness again, and reunited with the others in a strange place with the goat from before, now much smaller.
Well... It was unconscious, and a bit away from us. The moment we attempted to go towards it, we were attacked by a very strong creature - it snatched my weapon from me upon consciousness, not that it needed it.
[ this also makes him sound a little crazy but. his brow furrows, recalling. gu yun hates being caught off guard, and... this situation was certainly unique, but he's not pleased about it even still. ] It had several sorts of powers, too, and attacked all of us with a variety of different sorts of attacks, all to keep us away from the goat.
Childe and I quickly figured out it was the goat that was likely the key to getting out, so. I baited the creature into focusing on myself to make a show of getting my wind slasher back. [ he reaches down and touches his wrist. ] That was when this happened, as well as the rest of my injuries.
Once Childe touched the goat, he figured out that was how we returned the powers - and that was going to be our key home. We swapped, he got the goat to me [ by yeeting him away from the monster like a football, ] and the rest went from there.
