[ just try the puppy eyes, harrow!! surely they're weak!!
gu yun glances down at the spot where his hand used to be. the good news is - ] Right now, I can't feel my arm at all, so it doesn't really matter. I'll spend the night in the pod if I must, it ought to keep me well enough protected until tomorrow.
[ it's. fine. he's like, weirdly blase about all of this? sometimes you've been conditioned your entire life. gu yun waves his good hand. ] You can ask - there's nothing to be concerned over. [ he
says this and then realizes what it sounds like, internally winces a little, and corrects: ] ... In terms of what happened, that is. [ harrow gets like an actual sense of genuine remorsefulness, he will not try to paper over it and say he's fine and not injured anymore. ]
...I'd rather make a full report. I'm not sure what the others will feel up to saying.
[The correction softens her somewhat, but the admission makes her tone serious.]
I will tell you that not a one of us four has told the full story of what happened to us in there. If there are things you would prefer not to admit to, things you feel you cannot speak of, you must know that there is no obligation.
Hmm. [ his voice picks up an air of amusement, to that, a twinkle in his eye. ] Harrow, if you say things like that to me, I'll have to draw the logical conclusion that you care.
[ he is CLEARLY teasing, pleased, but with that, carries on. ]
I passed out, and woke up as a child somewhere strange - some sort of warehouse. Not simply shrunken to the size of a child, but rather, completely a child. I think I was around twelve or thirteen, and I had no recollection of being any older, either. Once there, I was asked to win a fight against two other children.
Mm. I assume the same was asked of the other three as well. I won my fight, though, strangely, it was up against the childlike versions of two people that I knew. [ and neither of which he thinks are very good fighters, either?? not very fair. ]
I met up with the other three afterwards in an odd room, returned back to our adult selves. The longer we spent in there, the hungrier we became, and eventually, food appeared before us, as well as these odd... round things, that were floating in the air, full of some sort of gas. [ balloons. they're balloons. ] Vlad reached out and touched the food, and when he did, a group of dogs were unleashed into the room.
[ gu yun wrinkles his nose, glancing down at his good arm, and the tears in his silks. ] Even I couldn't fight them off of me. What should have been easy was impossible.
[She tenses horribly when he mentions becoming hungrier, her eyes widening in some sort of awful frozen terror, her hand beginning to shake. But then he mentions the dogs, and -
Oh. Oh.]
. . . I suspect you experienced something like what we have all experienced this week. A memory belonging to someone else - only more vivid and contorted, with more direct consequences.
I think it would be wise not to speak further of the particular details of what you saw in that place, lest you cause harm to a person who does not deserve it.
Me, cause harm? I'd never. [ this remark is made to loosen some of that tension, because gu yun's not an idiot - he sees the terror on harrow's face, for a second there. he still doesn't know much of the details of what happened to her and the others, and... it seems that's likely a good thing. the slightly dry tone to his comment fades with a final look of seriousness, a non-voiced agreement. ]
I'll say this - we found several objects, like you all did. I know who one belongs to, but the other three I'm less sure of. There's a red blanket, a figurine that looks like a warrior of some sort, and... [ lol ] A rather lewd novel.
[Yes - she was afraid, very much so, until he mentioned the dogs. But she's calm again now.]
So you know that it's Wrath's hat - good. We found items belonging to Despair, Pride, Lust, and Gluttony. So your others are likely connected to Envy, Greed, and Sloth. Normally I'd suppose a blanket would belong to Sloth, but - I think it must be Greed's, as I would say the other two items are unlikely, given what I know of them. The lewd novel is likely Envy, wouldn't you say? Considering his. . . forthrightness. [Envy horny horny.]
Well done. [ clever harrow - that's really helpful, and it exactly anticipated the question he was going to ask next. ] I'll be returning the hat to Wrath the moment I'm able to. [ a beat, and he glances down at his. lack of hand. ] They'll have my head if I give it to them now instead of getting in the healing pod, no matter how important it is.
[ gu yun is likely going to be grounded. he feels it in his bones.
anyway. ] - I agree, though, about the novel. Now that you mention it, he is [ waggles eyebrows, completely exaggerated ] 'Forthright'. I'll let Childe know.
Vlad has the blanket. [ unfortunate that hes going to turn up dead tomorrow... RIP, ] I suppose I'll bring the figurine to Sloth, then, see if they recognize it.
[She may like to pretend not to care what he thinks, but she likes praise for being smart even more.]
Yes, you ought to rest. It is likely of importance to them, so I would not delay long, but do not harm yourself, either.
. . . We took polaroids of all our items and brought them around to show to whoever we talked to. The other Avatars were able to help direct us appropriately, though they never quite came out and said directly who the owner was.

[She can't even deny it right now!! Anyway.]
A fight against children? [Hmm. Why does that sound so familiar?]
