So far, each floor we've been to has corresponded to the Avatars themselves that were around that week. The first was Despair. [ and then counting the others off on his fingers - ] Then, Gluttony. Pride. Greed. That means there are likely a total of eight floors to this place, with each location based on the lives of the Avatars themselves.
We do need to be careful, and gather information as cleverly as possible, at least for their sakes. But... I at least know for a fact that finding those items and returning them to the Avatars who need them has done a great deal for them, to the point of helping to retract some of the features they have that they may not have had before. Every single thing we've done here [ aside from the MURDER but they're talking about the big picture, so, gu yun assumes childe will follow along ] is related to them, specifically.

I'd considered, early on, that they might be winners of previous rounds. [That's the theory he'd been talking about, weeks ago.] That in exchange for whatever their wish was, they would have to remain here.
