When I spoke with Lust about this room, they said it had been around longer than I'd think. [Which means very little because Childe doesn't generally make assumptions, and also has experience with time being Funky As Hell, but still. The idea got across.] They said they thought it must be helpful to someone somehow. "Why else would it be here?"
[Which adds merit to the idea that this place has been around longer than the Avatars, which seems pretty believable. That relates to another one of potential theories, but he still doesn't have enough to consider it much more than a guess at this point.
More importantly--]
When I reached out to them about that broadcast yesterday, they said it was for a "channel". Where they provide content for their fans. When I asked them if they meant from their own world, or from here, they said "both, maybe". But they wouldn't show me.
[So. Unless all of this is a giant farce (still possible), there is some contact with people besides them happening somewhere.]
[ there's a lot in that that gu yun doesn't know much about, but he can pick up the details from the context. he's quiet, for a moment, considering. ]
For their fans.
...That would make the execution make sense. I asked Wrath - why didn't they just have a firing squad? And they said the format of it, with that odd castle, was a form of indulgence in its own right.
If someone is watching us, then, perhaps we're performing for their entertainment.
[ ... it's a good theory. gu yun taps his hand against the inside of his arm, thoughtful, his expression unreadable as he looks down at the pod. ]
Yes. I'd imagine Lust provides them with the murder videos as well.
[The puppetmaster, or an audience--both, perhaps.]
The noises, the controlled access... it makes me wonder if we're in some form of a compound. [Lust did call it a "secret spy base", and he'd brushed it off as joking, but. Anything's possible, really.]
Like a fortress? [ a military compound is where his mind goes, naturally - he can contextualize it well enough. ] It would explain the anonymity of our Avatars, as well.
[ mm. ] The relative anonymity, anyway. [ ryan, ] Though, I wonder if that may have been planned, too?
[ considering envy's list! which he didn't make, which is rude? or, at least the top five! come on envy, have you not seen how cute he is!!!
anyway, ] I think your theory holds water, though. I want to see what happens tomorrow - it's been too long since the first incident, and if these sorts of things are planned, then there must be a schedule.
[ he doesn't say it, but. childe being on lust's team seems a whole lot more interesting now, doesn't it?
medical bay sounds good. he nods. ] I'll likely stay in the tea room. I asked Primrose to join me. [ since she was ALONE the week before. ] I'll check in with some of the others to get a sense for the spread of where people are staying, and we can reconvene in the morning with details of strange happenstances. I imagine there will be plenty.
... Have you talked with anyone that appeared in the kitchen, earlier, yet?
[Ah, that's good. No need to check in with her, then.
He shakes his head.]
They wouldn't appreciate my prying. [He's not close enough to any of them to merit shoving his way into the crowd, so he gave them all space. Also they were being pretty reticent in public which is useless to him. But it'll come out eventually, it always does.] But I sent Primrose a message about it.
[So he'll see what she says, if anything. But that's another part of the reason he's planning on medbay--to see if anything else comes out in there.]
They left the base, and apparently, were in a realm full of giants. None of them were together, but they were still brought to that place.
[ gu yun makes a thoughtful noise of his own, idly tapping his fingertip against the inside of his arm again, as he thinks through the details of what was told. ] It could have been an illusion of some kind, too, but they came back with evidence of something happening.
[ unlike any of the illusory effects they'd really experienced so far. ]

It was definitely intentional on Lust's part, I can tell you that much.

[Lust is either a brat, or is plotting something extremely sinister on a different level. That is his current opinion at this moment in time.
Gu Yun's right, though. It's been nearly seven days--if anything does happen, it will probably be tonight. He crosses his arms, thinking.]
I'll stay in the medical bay, then. [He'd be surprised if nothing happened in there, after all.]
